FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 11, 2012) – Governor Steve Beshear today announced Tru-Check Inc. plans to create 10 full-time jobs and has built a new 6,000-square-foot national headquarters facility in Somerset. The headquarters is located on University Drive and represents an investment of $1.2 million.

“We’re proud to have a company like Tru-Check expand its national headquarters in Kentucky, creating nearly a dozen new, professional jobs,” said Gov. Beshear. “Headquarters bring top-notch leaders into communities, which has a ripple effect throughout the community. I congratulate Somerset and Tru-Check on a strong partnership and am pleased that the state could help make this expansion possible.”

Tru-Check began operations in 1993 by providing a variety of meter services to gas, water and electric utility partners. The company has grown to read more than 2.5 million meters monthly for utilities ranging in size from 5,000 customers to 1.6 million customers across the nation.

To encourage the investment and job growth in Somerset, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $225,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the term of the agreement through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.

“Tru-Check’s decision to expand and add jobs to their Somerset office is reflective of the outstanding business climate our city and county offer,” said Rep. Tommy Turner, of Somerset. “I applaud Tru-Check for their confidence in the quality of life and the quality of workforce Somerset and Pulaski County have to offer to their company.”

“I appreciate Tru-Check for this additional investment in Somerset and the creation of more full-time jobs,” said Somerset Mayor Eddie Girdler. “The $1.2 million expansion along with the 10 new jobs displays confidence in the future economic vitality of Somerset and Pulaski County.”
