The Kentucky Innovation Network provides business assistance to entrepreneurs from 12 locations across the state. Focusing on the development of innovation-driven companies in Kentucky, each office possesses the knowledge and connections necessary to assist companies through preliminary business Assessment, Business development and ultimately Capitalization (the ABCs of business development).

KSBDC – Kentucky Small Business Development Center – www.ksbdc.org

The Kentucky Small Business Development Center (KSBDC) has 15 service centers and provides free one-on-one business consulting services to existing businesses and entrepreneurs. KSBDC is funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration and University of Kentucky in partnership with regional universities, community and private colleges, and the private sector.

SCORE – Service Corp of Retired Executives – www.score.org

The Service Corp of Retired Executives (SCORE), funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, offers free one-on-one business mentoring, workshops and online business tools and templates. SCORE has chapters located throughout the Commonwealth to assist Kentucky businesses and entrepreneurs.

Since its founding in 1953, the U.S. Small Business Administration has delivered millions of loans, loan guarantees, contracts, counseling sessions and other forms of assistance to small businesses.

Micro-lenders:

MACED – Mountain Association for Community Economic Development - www.maced.org

Founded in 1976, the Mountain Association for Community Economic Development (MACED) serves Kentucky and central Appalachia, with a focus on the 54 Appalachian counties of Kentucky. MACED specializes in working with enterprises that create jobs, diversify local economies or provide critical community services in central Appalachia. Loans range from $1,000 to $750,000 and they provide free or discounted support services.

SKED – Southeast Kentucky Economic Development Corporation - www.southeastkentucky.com

The Southeast Kentucky Economic Development Corporation (SKED), formed in 1986, serving 45 counties in southeast Kentucky. SKED services are provided on a free and confidential basis and offers financing options including SBA 504 loans, small business loans and micro-loans.

CVC – Community Ventures Corporation – www.cvcky.org

Since 1982 Community Ventures Corporation (CVC) has empowered individuals, families, new business owners, expanding businesses and non-profits through education, financing and technology. CVC offers a variety of small business lending options including micro-loans, USDA Rural Business Loans and SBA 7(a) Community Advantage Loans.

Kentucky Highlands Investment Corp – www.khic.org

Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation (KHIC), formed in 1968, services the needs of 22 counties in southeast Kentucky. KHIC makes equity investments and assists businesses in developing financing packages as small as $500 to investments up to $10 million. KHIC also offers technical assistance.

Buffalo Trace Area Development District - www.btadd.com

Over the past 30 years, Buffalo Trace Area Development District (BTADD) has offered various loan programs to assist a wide range of residents and businesses in their five-county area. BTADD offers residential loans as well as a revolving loan fund used primarily for small businesses.

Pine Mountain Community Development Corporation (PMCDC) is a multi-bank community development corporation whose mission is to provide start-up or expansion capital to microenterprises and small businesses in the Kentucky Appalachian Counties of Bell, Harlan and Letcher.

Purchase Area Development District - www.purchaseadd.org

The Purchase Area Development District (PADD) operates a Business Lending and Development Services Department to assist businesses and industries within the eight-county area in obtaining public-sector financing and to provide technical assistance for industrial expansions and/or entrepreneurial business development.
